"Pendones"

The banner is a flag used in the past as a military insignia to identify the regiments, battallions, armies ...
The banners of León are one of the most deeply rooted traditions of the province and were famous in the Middle Ages due to their enourmous size. With the banners, people walk in the street and dance with them. Many of the municipalities in the province have their own banner, in two versions, one smaller and the other of great size. Today, far away from the medieval battles, are shown with festive occasions. Like many traditions, for years it was getting lost, but has re-emerged and is one of the main events of the festival of San Froilán in León.
