The "Alubiada"
Some people say that La Bañeza seems to be a really nice place! I really would like to go to this event in order to discover the place, to taste beans of la Bañeza and to share a great time with other people.
“Pendones”
These banners make San Froilan’s Festival really beautiful. This Festival is a very good moment to discover Leon culture. These banners can make you feel interested in the past of the town!!!
“Astures” and “Romanos”
In order to continue your summer trip in Leon, you should go to Astorga in Leon to learn a little bit of Roman culture because there, in Astorga there is a wall that Romans built to protect the city.
The “Justas of Hospital de Orbigo”
If you have decided to spend your summer in Leon, I think it would be a great idea to be at the Medieval Joust of the PassoHonrosso because it’s not really common to see that kind of tradition and, moreover, you can immerse yourself in a medieval culture.
“El tapeo”
The “tapas” in Leon are a very pleasant tradition and I don’t think that you will find it elsewhere in the world… As a French Erasmus student, I appreciate to go out with some friends, to sit at a table of a café and to eat “tapas” with a fresh drink. Moreover the “tapas” are really tasty!
“Cecina de Leon”
In Switzerland and France, there is a similar meat called the “la viande de grison”. The difference is that here you usually eat the cecina with oil which is a good extra! You must try it if you decide to come over here!
“Ancas de Rana de la Bañeza”
Frog legs are also a specialty of a French region and I can assure you that is one of the best dishes I have ever eaten!!! If you don’t think you have a frog on your plate, you will love them. And soon I’m going to taste the Spanish ones in Leon (which are cooked in a different way) and I will tell you how delicious they are!
“Cocido de Castrillo de los Polvazares”
Castrillo de los Polvazares seems to be a really cute village and if you like old and authentic places you have to go there to eat a great meal in a very nice place.
Rookies time!
Rookies times are a tradition which exists also in France and it’s a good way to integrate new students to the university life. I didn’t take part in it but I saw students in the streets of Leon throwing eggs on each other. That’s a proof that old students make to the rookies and it is really disgusting!!
Party night at Leon
The best place in Leon to go out would be the “humid district” (“el barrio humedo”) where there are lots of bars and some nightclubs. And for foreign students like me, it’s very easy to know people because we are all together in some bars with drinks and “tapas”.
